“BLEVINS, JULIA RUGO Julia Rugo Blevins, mother, teacher, quilter and artist, passed away May 17, 2006 at home. Julia was born April 19, 1917 in Boston, Mass., taught high school Spanish in Hinsdale, Ill., and after retirement moved to be near family in San Diego, Calif. She is survived by daughter, Marsha Sterling; sons: Robert (Sharon) Blevins and Burke (Muriel) Blevins, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry, Al (Lee), Dick (Mary) and Bob (Judy) Rugo. In her 89 years here on earth she touched many lives. She had a fierce sense of family, organizing dinner parties for family and friends. She loved to visit old friends and travel to new places. Julie kept us connected. Her talents were wide and varied - master chef, investment maven, quilting connoisseur and freelance personal advisor. Julie's opinions were strong and her commitments deep. Her many friends from coast to coast will miss her greatly. Services Saturday, May 20th, 2 p.m. at St. James Church, 625 S. Nardo Ave, Solana Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Community Resource Center, 650 2nd Street, Encinitas 92024.“

“Julia Rugo Blevins of San Diego, formerly of Hinsdale for more than 40 years, died Wednesday, May 17, in San Diego.
Mrs. Blevins, 89, was born April 19, 1917, in Boston. She received her bachelor's degree in home economics at Simmons College in 1937 and her bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1969. Mrs. Blevins was a Spanish teacher at Hinsdale Central High School from 1970 to 1984. She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall C., and her son William C.
Mrs. Blevins is survived by her children, Marsha Sterling, Robert M. and Burke R.; and her eight grandchildren.
A funeral was held Saturday, May 20, at St. James Catholic Church in Solana Beach, Calif. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Tacoma, Wash.”
