“On Sunday, August 24, 2014, Evelyn Gertrude Morris Coleman, beloved wife of 66 years to Richard (Tony) F. Coleman Sr. of Arlington, Virginia died peacefully at Spring Hills Assisted Living in Alexandria, Virginia at the age of 91.

Her parents, Albert Sr. and Lillian Morris, as well as her Brother Albert Jr. and sister Florence Fluke predeceased her.

A life-long resident of Arlington, Evelyn was May Queen at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in 1936. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1940 where she played both basketball and field hockey. After graduation, she became a legal secretary for the law firm of Shifflet, Fitzgerald and Associates in Washington, DC until 1948. Her love of sports and athletics developed at an early age while listening to baseball games on the radio with her father. For many years she participated in a bowling league at her winter home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mrs. Coleman was an avid, life-long fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Miami Dolphins. Locally, she was the NVSL Swimming Team Representative for the Dominion Hills Swim Club for many years. Evelyn was a devoted stay-at-home Mom to her nine children.

She is survived by five daughters, Diane (Allan) Roeser, Terri (Karl) Kriegel, Patricia Moore, Eileen (Thomas) Cutrona, Mary Kathleen (Brad) Olson; four sons Richard F. Coleman Jr., Michael Albert Coleman, John Andrew Coleman, and Joseph Alan Coleman; and 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.”
