SOUTH BERWICK, Maine — Albina E. Miniutti, of Boyd's Corner Road, passed away peacefully in the Greenwood Center on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. She had celebrated her 101st birthday on June 20, 2006.
She was born in Concord, N.H., one of the 11 children of Angelo G. Miniutti and Lucia Italia Miniutti. When she was a child, her family moved to Boyd's Corner in South Berwick. She attended North Berwick High School and Gray Business School in Portland, Maine.
For a few years, she worked for Larrabees Hardware Store in Kennebunk. She then worked as a secretary for Hussey Manufacturing Company, later Hussey Seating Company in North Berwick, until her retirement in 1970. Upon retirement, the Hussey Company gave her an all-expense paid week vacation in Europe. Accompanied by her sister, Angela, they stayed for two weeks. They attended the Passion Play in Oberamergeau, Germany and then went to northern Italy to visit their parent's birthplace.
Her hobbies were rug hooking, crossword puzzles, reading and she was an avid gardener. Her family was well known for their beautiful gardens. She also wrote their family genealogy. She was a member of the North Berwick Historical Society and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Quint Cheney Post 87. She participated in several Volksmarches, where she was awarded trophies for the oldest participant.
She is survived by two sisters, Angela Miniutti of South Berwick and Mabel Annett of Waterboro; a niece and her, husband, Mr. and Mrs. James (Judith) Carll of Waterboro and three nephews, James Miniutti and his wife, Barbara, of North Berwick, John Miniutti and his wife, Janet, of Marcos Island, Fla., and William Miniutti of Jersey City, N.J., several grand nieces and nephews.
An hour of visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, 26 Market St., North Berwick, Maine. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in South Berwick. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Rollinsford, N.H.
