Notes for Estelle / Stella H. Cassidy
Age 20, of 19 Mapes Street at time of marriage. (The 1918 atlas shows a series of houses, including #19, on the west side of Mapes Street all owned by the Old Colony Railroad. The train tracks run along the east side of the street. The area is all industrial now.)
Shown as “Stella” on her husband’s World War II draft registration.
“Stella Cassidy” born in Boston in 1895 - Mass. Vital Records - unable to view original record. 1900 Census shows Stella as the ninth child, born March 1895, of William M. and Helen, living at 21 Fulton Street (later changed to Lawley Street) in the Port Norfolk section of Dorchester. William works for a railroad. Parents and the first five children were born in England, one child born in New York and the last three in Massachusetts. Indexed as Cassiday in 1910 census. Older sister Loretta Cassidy was born 5 August 1893 when the family was living on Tenean Street in Neponset, Dorchester, Massachusetts and the father’ occupation was shown as a signal fitter. When Loretta married she was living at 19 Mapes Street, so this is the correct family.
