The woman holding the baby is Santa Masutti, wife of Giacomo Varnerin.The baby is Maria, born 1 September 1888 in Tramonti. Their two older children are also in the photo. Giacomo Varnerin had returned to Boston, Massachusetts in May and it seems likely that this photo was taken to be sent to him in Boston after the birth of their third child. The other three adults are probably his parents and his sister, but this has not been confirmed.
