“Walter J. Cwikla, 94, of Hartford, loving and devoted husband of Gertrude (Miniutti) Cwikla died Saturday (July 4, 2009) in Hartford. Born on August 18, 1914, Walter lived in Hartford all of his life. He was employed at the Pratt & Whitney Division of United Aircraft in East Hartford and later at the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Wethersfield for 34 years. Walter was a man that thoroughly enjoyed his time with his family and working around the house. Besides his cherished wife of 62 years, Walter is survived by his son, Walter G. Cwikla and his wife JoAnn of Simsbury; a sister, Elizabeth 'Betty' Ciangio of Cape May, NJ; two grandchildren, Dawn and Christopher; a goddaughter, Patricia Marcucci and her husband Thomas of Hamden; many nieces and nephews with a special mention of his great nephew, Sam Jenkins for his caring devotion. Funeral will be Thursday, July 9, beginning at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.”
