Notes for Luigia Ferroli
E-mail from Beverly March 2007 “We are planning a trip to Tramonti di Sotto to find my grandmother's birthplace. Her name is Amilia (Emily or Emilia) and her parents are Bortolo and Luigia Ferroli. Chiarandin is the birthplace that is listed for all three of them, but I cannot find it. Therefore, I think that it is part of Tramonti di Sotto since I find that on other documents. One son, Giacomo, was born there.”
Chiarandin is on the main road in Tramonti, just north of Tridis and just south of the Tramonti di Sotto village center.
Arrival at Ellis Island - 24 April 1902, listed as Luigia Ferrali, age 48, arriving in the US for the first time, going to join her husband at 283 Norfolk Avenue, with children Albino, age 18, Felice, age 14, and Emilia, age 10. Traveling with Oswaldo Ferroli age 34, Giosue Cozzi age 19, Lorenzo Rugo age 19 (my great grandfather’s brother), Lorenzo Varnerin age 46 and Gio Batta Minin age 32.
1920 Census for 6 Pine Street, Brockton, Massachusetts: Felix Feroli, age 31, unmarried, and mother Louise Feroli, age 66, a widow. Both born in Italy and came to the US in 1902. Also Albert Feroli, age 34, born in Italy, came to the US in 1902, and his wife Mary, age 24, born in Massachusetts.
They were at the same address in 1910 before Albert was married. Says that the mother is a widow who had four children, all of whom were still living. Albert is shown as three years older than Felix in May 1910 as compared to a four year difference in the January 1920 census.
