“Adolph J. Kissell, a starting halfback on the Boston College football team that won the Sugar Bowl in 1941, died yesterday afternoon in Wareham's Tobey Hospital after a long illness, his wife said. He was 62.
Known as Butch Kissell, the halfback played one season for the Chicago Bears after being graduated from BC in 1942. He was one of five brothers who played professional football.
Mr. Kissell was graduated from Boston College Law School in 1948 and practiced law in Boston. He moved to Wareham several years ago.
He was a fighter pilot in the Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Kissell leaves his wife, Frances Cifrino Kissell; a son, Steve Kissell of Westport; and a daughter, Emily M. Kissell of Bloomfield, Conn. Four brothers and three sisters also survive.”
