1917 draft registration shows him unmarried and living at 544 E. 4th St., South Boston, Massachusetts. Working as a conductor for the Boston Elevated Railway Company.
1920 Census: Age 32, a street car conductor, renting an apartment with his wife, Margaret, age 29, at 935 Massachusetts Avenue. She was born in Massachusetts, as was her mother, father born in Ireland. He says parents born in Massachusetts, although father probably born in Canada.
