He was very handsome. My grandmother said the Gucci family used to own a leather purse store and that Mrs. Gucci was British. Grandmother Emilia spoke perfect English so the Gucci's would come over for tea. I have a picture of my father with one of the Gucci boys at their first holy communion in Firenze.”
